Wes’ passion for running started as soon as he joined his high school track team. Running events anywhere from the 400m through the 3200m, and XC, Wes was able to enjoy all aspects of the sport. He continued running Track and XC for Hartwick College where he specialized in the 800m. In the Fall after graduation Wes took his first shot at the marathon, and although it was an awful experience, he managed to finish. Wes continues to run on the road and trails and race at distances of anywhere from 5K through the marathon, although they are still always a struggle. Wes started working at New England Running Company & Trail in 2006 and is the GM/Men’s Apparel & Accessories Buyer. Wes’ true running passion is trail running where he spends most of his time on the Gordon College trails, Chebacco Woods, and the Manchester-Essex Woods with Georgia, the store dog.
Erica started her running career by thrill seeking – specifically Pole Vaulting. She vaulted in High School and College, and developed a deep love for Track and Field that still motivates her runs today. It also had a strong influence in career choices. After college, Erica worked at City Sports, where she first started fitting athletes with shoes. From there it was on to Nike, where Erica was the Running Specialty Tech rep to the Northeast – throwing her right back in the world of Track. Now, she loves being the Women’s Apparel Buyer for NERC. While not a distance athlete, she’s happy staying fit and running on any trails available. Favorite shoes are the Brooks Pure Grit and Asics 3000. Favorite Road Race is a tie – Miles over the Moon and Louise Rossetti 5k.

Steve played interscholastic team sports in high school, and came to the realization that he would be unable to compete at the collegiate level in any of them (football, basketball, or baseball). His freshman year at UCONN he decided to try his hand at running and walked onto the XC team. This was the beginning of a long term commitment to fitness. After realizing his abilities on the track in the mid-distance events and on the XC course, running has continued to be a significant part of his life. Although he is no longer a competitive runner he still remains active by cycling around Marblehead and the rest of Boston’s North Shore.
Raised in Connecticut as a lacrosse player, Colton was convinced by a childhood friend to join his middle school XC team and run laps around the local apple orchard each day. Running without pads and a helmet was a pretty neat concept, so his focus shifted slightly. Through high school he ran varsity XC each fall but chose not to pursue competitive running in college. After a brief time studying Exercise Physiology at the University of Southern Maine, Colton drew his attention to the trails. Working at a running retail store in Connecticut showed him the joy of the sport and provided a greater opportunity to explore the running world. Though he will race anything from 1 to 50 miles, his current interest is in the marathon and ultra distances. More than anything he enjoys sharing the experience with others no matter the distance. When not at the store Colton can usually be found getting lost in the woods or napping in his hammock.
