New England Running Company & Trail & Trail is owned and operated by Dave Menosky. Dave’s running career began in 1973 with a tryout on his high school track team. Little did he know at that time, the lifelong relationship he would have with running. As Dave quickly became passionate about the sport, he also got an early taste of the footwear industry, working at the Athlete’s Foot.
Dave graduated with a business degree from Mount Union College in 1980. He was a seven-time OAC All-Conference honoree and qualified for five NCAA championship events. He placed 36th in the 1976 Cross Country Championships and in 1980, finished 11th in the 1500 meter finals.
Dave continued his post-collegiate career by running for Allegheny Nike until 1986, with PR’s of 14:23 for the 5K and 30:18 for the 10K. He also completed one competitive marathon in 1985 (Long Beach, Ca.) finishing in 8th place with a 2:29.28.
A non-running related accident ended Dave’s running career in 1987, but fueled his desire to stay involved in the sport. Dave enthusiasm and tenacity quickly landed him a job at Century Sports as a General Manager from 1988-1990. From there Dave continued his path in the footwear industry working at Asics in sales and marketing from 1990-1997 and Marathon Sports as the footwear buyer form 1997-2003. It was clear at this point, that Dave had the knowledge, and experience to realize his dream of owning and operating his own store.
Dave opened New England Running Company & Trail in May 2003, with a strong vision and philosophy. His years of experience have been invaluable, but most impressively Dave cares deeply about each and every person that walks through the door, creating an inviting atmosphere.
